Ronald McDonald House Charities
Alpha Delta Pi Sorority has been involved in philanthropic work since its inception in 1851. Our founders were members of Christian service organizations and firmly believed in giving back to the community.
At the 1979 Grand Convention, the convention body voted to adopt the Ronald McDonald House Charities (Children's Oncology Services, Inc.) as our national philanthropy.
The Ronald McDonald House Beginnings
The 1st House opened in 1974 with the help of Philadelphia Eagles tight end Fred Hill, manager Jim Murray and McDonald’s Owner / Operator Leonard Tose.
Fred and Fran Hill's daughter Kim was being treated for leukemia at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, where they saw other families living in the waiting rooms because they could not afford hotel rooms and decided to help create a home where families could stay nearby.
The original House was located at 4032 Spruce Street, Philadelphia, PA with room for seven families.
Today there are over 300 Ronald McDonald Houses across the globe.
The Ronald McDonald House Charities have grown to have about 309 locations around the world in about 54 countries, providing a home away from home for families with sick children in the hospital.
Alpha Delta Pi is proud of the close relationship we have had with the Ronald McDonald House Charities. To date, we have contributed more than $ 3.7 million to the RMHC and are seen as an integral part of their organization.
Our alumnae members continue to serve on the boards and volunteer in the Ronald McDonald Houses and Ronald McDonald House Family Rooms located across the nation.

Picnic with the pi's
Every fall we host our annual Picnic with the Pis on front campus featuring a live band and BBQ! All proceeds from ticket sales go to our beloved RMH!
king of diamonds
Every spring we host our male talent show where members of campus organizations participate in a talent competition with talent, group dance, and a question portion. This is our favorite and most popular event on campus, and is the one event by one single organization that raises the most money at GCSU!
Every semester our Junior Philanthropy chair organizes multiple trips to the Ronald McDonald House down the road in Macon. Each trip, a few sisters pick up groceries and prepare a warm meal for the families currently in the house! We treasure these trips the most and getting the chance to go is a privilege!
